Kathy Atkinson: Certified Officiant Minister providing unique, customizable, secular wedding ceremonies.
“Congratulations on making the momentous decision to get married; probably the biggest decision of your life!”
Hello and Welcome. I am Kathy Atkinson, Professional Wedding Officiant and I am here to help you create a unique and personal wedding ceremony that matches your tastes, ideas, personalities and passions.
Meet Kathy Atkinson, Non-Religious Humanist Minister
“I specialize in uniquely beautiful, romantic, meaningful and ultimately memorable, non-religious wedding ceremonies.”
I have extensive experience in secular weddings, from the UK to the USA. In Europe there is a huge trend away from religious to non-religious weddings, which have now overtaken religious ceremonies in popularity. I am noticing that same trend here in the USA.
For many years it has been my privilege and pleasure to customize and officiate a huge variety of wonderful, unique and extremely meaningful wedding ceremonies. I have over 20 years’ experience as a secular wedding officiant. In that time I have officiated many weddings, from those of members of some of Europe’s royal households, stars and celebrities, with hundreds of guests; through to small, intimate wedding ceremonies on a tight budget, with just a handful of family and friends.
“Each wedding is different and unique because each couple is different and unique; and in each and every case, I consider myself honored to have been invited to participate in their special day.”
As an experienced wedding officiant I have successfully developed truly customizable, non religious wedding ceremonies for couples.
Kathy officiates a beautiful, secular wedding ceremony.
This is how I can help make your special day into the wedding of your dreams.
I customize wedding ceremonies by talking at length with you both, getting to know you, your hopes and plans; thereby ensuring that on your special day, I can incorporate all your wishes and choices into the wedding ceremony of your dreams. Together we can make it an occasion that is even more memorable, for you and your guests.
“It’s the most rewarding job I know…”
“I love what I do and I do it with love….”
I firmly believe that special ceremonies, which mark important events for people and families, contribute to and underline our humanity, and bring us together as a community.
- I am a qualified Humanist Minister, having full rights and responsibilities of ordained clergy from any faith tradition.
I specialize in ceremonies where the focus is on the people rather than faith or tradition. This is the very definition of a secular Humanist ceremony.
“Every occasion is first about the people…”
My focus is always the couple. I want to know what your wishes are for your ceremony. I offer choices and options for a ceremony, which is all about you both.
My wedding ceremonies are secular in nature and I am not tied to any faith tradition. Maybe you have attended other wedding ceremonies as a guest and noticed intrusive religious tradition(s) and/or the distinct lack of focus on the couple, their lives, their own personal vows to each other, their expressions of love and commitment. Maybe this is something you seek to avoid in your ceremony….
I understand, and I am here to help you realize any and all ideas you both have. Every word, every action, music or song in your ceremony can be completely focused on both of you, your personalities, your experiences as a couple, as a family and as part of a community.
“What people say about me tells me I am doing it right…”
It has always been of huge importance for me to hear and read feedback from everyone involved with every ceremony and occasion in which I participate. One of the truly wonderful things about this job is hearing how happy people are that their event has been a true success, and that they believe I was an important part of making it so. It is just as heartening to hear from couples and families, sometimes years after the event, about the progress they have made in life. For me a client is never just a client. Everyone I help is an important and unique person passing through a significant step in their life. This is a responsibility I cherish and a service it is an honor for me to perform.
Originally from the United Kingdom, I moved to North Carolina in 2004 with my husband David, where we immediately settled right in and quickly began to love North and South Carolina and everything these great states have to offer. David and I became American citizens in 2012.
